Mein Glücke trag' ich in der Taschen
und kann hinlaufen, wo ich will.
Das grosse Dorf, auf teutsch: die Welt,
die so viel Menschen unterhält,
ist überhaupt mein Vaterland,
das niemals völlig abgebrandt;
und dieser weite Ort ist meiner Reise Ziel.
I carry my luck in bags
and can walk where I want.
The large German village: the world,
which maintains so many people,
all is my native country,
which was never burnt completely;
and this wide place is my journey's end.
